The design incorporates a new high speed open field magnet in a former C.T. Scan room of a 1980s building. Extensive renovations to accommodate radio frequency shielding and the weight of the 92,000 pound magnet were required. A new sub-waiting space, dressing rooms, and a patient toilet compliment the MRI Scan Room.
