Project Description:

The project goal is to convert 1 room in each of the 3 patient units to be used for patients to ‘calm down’ away from other patients. The existing rooms are sterile looking, and not inviting. The challenge was to create a warm, relaxing atmosphere, while still maintaining all requirements of behavioral health codes and standards.

To address these requests, each room has a custom cabinet with a monitor, sound system, and storage.

The walls are painted such that chalk can be used on them, and then erased. The new LED lighting is at the wall and ceiling, and has dimming capabilities. The new doors to the corridor have a large clear acrylic pane, so patients feel connected to the unit visually. Finally, the rooms have a recliner chair as well as an oversized bean bag for patients to relax.
